There are many factors to take into account when deciding on a type of stone for your kitchen
or bathroom interior.  Should I choose Marble, Granite, or Quartz?  Light stone or dark stone?  Picking
out the perfect fit for your home should be enjoyable NOT stressful, so let us give you the facts to help
make your decision the right one.

One factor to consider when deciding what type of stone to buy for your home is its durability.
Granite is very durable in comparison to other natural stones.  It is resistant to stains and scratches as
well as heat, which makes it ideal for placement in kitchens.  Marble on the other hand, is much softer
than granite.  It is more susceptible to scratches as well as stains known as “etching”, which are spots
left on the stone from acidic liquids like vinegar and dish detergent.  Both of these natural stones need
to be sealed each year with a protective top coat to preserve their beauty.  On the other end of the
spectrum, quartz is one of the most durable stones out there.  Quartz is an engineered stone (unlike
marble or granite which are mined) and is non-porous which does not require it to be sealed.

The color of your stone is another important detail to consider.  One of the selling points of
marble is its vast array of natural colorations.   Marble commonly has dark prominent veins, and can
have overall hues of white, black, green, pink, gray, and yellow.   Granite typically is seen with darker
colors like gray, black, blue, brown, or red and is seen with specks peppered throughout.  Lastly, quartz
can be found in a variety of eye-catching vibrant colors and patterns as it is man-made, with pigment
added to create its appearance.
