USES OF STONE
Based on the characteristics of stones, their applications in construction varies. Highlighted here are some of the uses of stones available with us.

Granite:
Granite is used either structurally or as thin covering for exterior or interior walls.
Larger blocks are used for retaining walls, bridge piers and similar prospects.
Limestone:
Limestone is the perfect choice for bathroom floors and backsplash applications.
It is suitable for bathroom surfaces and areas where a hard floor is preferred like kitchens, halls, living and dining rooms and conservatory floors.
It is a good conductor of heat and is ideal where under-floor heating is required.
Marble:
Marble is used in formal floor applications, furniture tops, fireplace surrounds and vanity tops.
It is used in kitchens as confectioners' slabs, though it is not recommended as marble is prone to stains when exposed to wines, juices or fruits
Travertine:
Travertine is used for interior and exterior wall cladding.
It is also used for interior and exterior paving, and for statuaries and curbing.
Onyx:
Onyx is a popular stone for interior wall covering.
It is used as an exterior cover in warm environments and as table tops.
It is also used for light residential flooring and novelty items.
Slate:
Slate is commonly used for roofing, flagstones, fireplace facings and in buildings.
It is also used for tops of pool tables.
It is used as covering for walls and for flooring.
It also finds application in non-architectural projects.
Tiles:
Tiles are found in most houses and commercial buildings, particularly in lobby areas and restrooms.
Due to their resistance to chemicals, tiles are used in industry premises as protective wall covering and flooring.
Tiles are refractory, hence used widely in space shuttles and other aeronautical applications.
Decorative tiles are used for wall accents, in kitchens and bath backsplashes, counters and table tops, tub and shower enclosures, fireplace accents, window and door borders and stair risers.
